Celestia will become an option for data availability within the Polygon CDK software.
The Celestia network has announced its integration with Polygon’s chain development kit (CDK), set to take place “early next year.” This integration will introduce an easily pluggable component, allowing Polygon-based networks to leverage Celestia for enhanced data availability. This collaborative effort aims to provide a seamless and adaptable solution for data management within the broader blockchain ecosystem.
Celestia and Polygon’s CDK
The integration of Celestia with Polygon’s CDK, scheduled for early 2024, is expected to significantly reduce transaction fees by over 100 times compared to Ethereum. Storing compressed transaction data on Celestia, as facilitated by the integration, will be a simplified option within the Polygon CDK software. This move is likened to a “broadband moment for Web3,” enabling the easy deployment of a high-throughput ZK-powered Ethereum layer 2, akin to deploying a smart contract. The Polygon CDK software, currently utilized by platforms such as OKX, Astar, Canto, Gnosis Pay, Palm, and IDEX, plays a key role in creating new blockchain networks within the broader Polygon ecosystem.
